Twenty-one-year-old shoemaker, Anthony Sahr Koroma, has been committed to the High Court in Freetown by Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah of Pademba Road Court No. 1, after he was accused of breaking into a dwelling house and stealing property valued at Le68,000.
Koroma is facing one count of House Breaking and Larceny, contrary to Section 26(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the particulars of the offence, on 20 April 2026, at Smith Drive, Leicester Village, Western Area, Freetown, the accused allegedly broke and entered the dwelling house of Salamatu Mansaray with intent to steal.
It was further alleged that Koroma stole a 52-inch plasma television, an Apple computer and other assorted items, all valued at Le68,000, property of Mansaray.
When the charge was read and explained to the accused, no plea was taken, as the matter was being heard as a committal proceeding.
The prosecution was represented by DPC 17649 Brima Kargbo, who called the Investigating Officer (IO) and presented evidence in support of the case.
In his ruling, Magistrate Jah said that, having heard the submissions of the prosecution and considered the statement of the accused, he was satisfied that sufficient evidence had been presented to warrant committing the matter to the High Court for trial.
Magistrate Jah subsequently committed the accused to the High Court and ordered that he be remanded at the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown pending further proceedings.
