SLTA’s USA-Based Crew Inspires Young Taekwondo Athletes In Lungi

The Sierra Leone Taekwondo Association’s USA-based athletes, George Edward Holland and Maxwell James Mason, alongside Coach David Phelham, recently paid a courtesy visit to the Junior and Cadet Taekwondo practitioners at Saint Augustine Agricultural Junior Secondary School in Tintafor, Lungi, where they inspired the young athletes to pursue excellence in the sport.

The presence of these accomplished individuals provided a unique opportunity for the students to learn from their experiences and gain valuable insights into the world of competitive Taekwondo.

The crew which was accompanied by Sierra Leone Taekwondo Association’s President, Oness A. Johnson, the Technical Director, Coach Alfred Karefa Smart, the Chairman of the Northwest Region, Gerald Davies and the head of delegations, Husham Sesay, highlighted the association’s commitment to nurturing young talent and promoting the sport at the grassroots level.

During the visit, the students had the opportunity to engage in interactive sessions with the visitors, while Coach David Phelham conducted a special training session, providing the young athletes with practical tips and techniques to enhance their skills. The enthusiasm and eagerness of the students were evident as they absorbed the knowledge and advice imparted by these seasoned professionals.

In his brief statement, President, Oness A. Johnson encouraged students to take their education and training very serious, assuring that the association would continue to support their development and provide opportunities for growth.

This visit left a lasting impact on the young practitioners, instilling in them a sense of pride and motivation to achieve greatness in Taekwondo.
