Abdul Bangura on Tuesday, 3 November 2026, made another appearance before Justice Mohamed Bawoh of the Freetown High Court, where a forensic analyst testified that Ibrahim Sorie Kamara died from severe bleeding caused by a lacerated wound to his left forearm.

Bangura is standing trial on a one-count charge of murder, contrary to Section 1 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861, as repealed and replaced by Section 1(a) of the Schedule to the Abolition of the Death Penalty Act 2022.

According to the indictment, the accused allegedly murdered Ibrahim Sorie Kamara on 3 February 2025 in Freetown.

Testifying under examination-in-chief by State Counsel A. B. N. Taylor, Dr Simeon Owizz Koroma, a forensic analyst, told the court that on 19 February 2025, while on duty, he received a request from the Sierra Leone Police to conduct a postmortem examination on the remains of the deceased.

Dr Koroma said that during the postmortem examination, no relative was present to identify the deceased. However, the investigating officers, DPC 17822 Kargbo A. R. and DPC 19959 Robert R. B. G., both attached to the Criminal Investigation Department at Grafton Police Station, were present.

He further testified that the examination revealed no pre-existing disease or medical condition that could have caused the deceased to collapse suddenly, caused his death, or accelerated it on 3 February 2025.

The forensic analyst told the court that the deceased sustained an 18-centimetre-long lacerated wound to his left forearm, which severed the left radial artery and resulted in acute haemorrhagic shock.

Dr Koroma informed the court that the cause of death was unnatural and that the manner of death was evidently homicidal.

He explained that the medical cause of death was recorded as acute haemorrhagic shock due to profuse and torrential bleeding resulting from a homicidal lacerated wound with a severed radial artery in the left forearm.

The witness was subsequently cross-examined by defence counsel C. Taylor Young.

The matter was adjourned to 10 November 2026 for further proceedings.
