Two Arraigned for Wounding

Charles Coker and Abdul Rahman Sesay have been arraigned before Magistrate Alhaji Sullaiman Koroma for three counts of wounding with intent, wounding and assault occasioning actual bodily.
The two accused persons allegedly wounded Sheku Abu Bakarr Barrie (PW-1) in November last year in Freetown. The first count of wounding with intent is a felonious crime which involves the use of any offensive weapon to cause grievous bodily harm to the person of another.
The police charge sheet stated that on the 29th of November, 2019 in the Freetown Judicial district, Western Area of the Republic of Sierra Leone, The two accused persons, with intent to cause grievous bodily harm wounded Sheku Abu Bakarr Barrie.
PW-1testified that he recalled the 29th November being the date he was allegedly wounded and also recognized the accused in the dock. On that day, he said, he was going to purchase a commodity from the second accused, Abdul Rahman Sesay who owns a shop in the community. At that time, he said, a lady was standing in the middle of the road making it difficult for him to pass through and politely asked her to grant her access. The lady in question, PW-1 continued, seemed offended and used abusive words against him.
Defence counsel, Ishmael Saccoh is representing the two accused persons in court. He applied for bail which was granted by the court.
The bail is anchored on requirements of two sureties with Le20M each and to be approved by the Master and Registrar of the High Court.
The matter comes up on the 20th this month.
