Magistrate Alhaji Suliaman Koroma of Ross Road Court No.1 yesterday Monday 20th July, 2020 committed a wounding with intent trial to the High Court of Sierra Leone.
In his committal statement, the presiding Magistrate said based on the evidence before the court, it was quite glaring that the accused, Munda Swaray, has a case to answer at the High Court.
The accused is standing trial for the offences of wounding with intent, wounding and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, which are all contrary to the Offences against the Persons Act of 1861.
The police prosecutor, Inspector Fatmata Kuyateh, informed the Bench that she has closed the case for prosecution wherein she led three factual and two formal witnesses that so far testified in respect of the matter.
The final police prosecution witness, Agnes Lamin, tendered photographs of the accused in court to form part of the court records. In her testimony, she told the court that she recognized the accused as his younger brother’s friend and she could recall 7th May, 2020.
According to the prosecution witness, she took the photographs of the accused at the Rokupa Government Hospital at Wellington in east end Freetown.
According to the police charge sheet, Munda Swaray on the 7th May, 2020 at Upper Caulker Street, Wellington, Freetown wounded and assaulted the complainant, John Sheriff, in a manner thereby causing him grievous bodily harm.
