Sharod Mweemba has been remanded at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown after appearing before Justice Adrian Fisher on four counts relating to the alleged possession, transportation, collection and dealing in prohibited drugs.
Mweemba is facing four charges: unlawful possession of drugs, contrary to Section 8(a) of the National Drugs Control Act 2008 (Act No. 10 of 2008); transporting a prohibited drug, contrary to Section 7(b) of the same Act; collecting a prohibited drug, also contrary to Section 7(b); and dealing in a prohibited drug, contrary to Section 7(c) of the Act.
According to the particulars of the offences, on June 24, 2026, at the Freetown International Airport in Lungi, Port Loko District, North-West Region of Sierra Leone, Mweemba was allegedly found in possession of two small-sized pellets and one large pellet containing cocaine hydrochloride, with a total weight of 1.9 kilograms, without lawful authority.
Count Two alleges that on the same date and place, the accused transported a prohibited drug, identified as cocaine, from Freetown to the Freetown International Airport in Lungi, Port Loko District, without lawful authority.
Count Three further alleges that on the same date, at a guest house in Freetown, Mweemba collected a prohibited drug, identified as cocaine hydrochloride, without lawful authority.
The fourth count alleges that Mweemba was found dealing in a prohibited drug, identified as cocaine hydrochloride, without lawful authority.
When the charges were read and explained to him, Mweemba pleaded not guilty to all four counts.
The State Prosecutor, Musa Pious Sesay Esq. Jr. applied for a short adjournment to allow the prosecution to proceed with the matter. The Defendant was not legally represented during the proceedings.
Meanwhile, Justice Fisher refused bail and ordered that the Defendant be remanded at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown, and he adjourned the matter to September 2, 2026 for further proceedings.
