Magistrate Alhaji Suliaman Koroma, the presiding Magistrate at the Ross Road Magistrate Court No.1, yesterday committed an arson matter at the High Court of Sierra Leone. The matter involves one Aminata Bawoh, who was charged with the offences of conspiracy to commit arson, murder, wounding, conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm, which are all contrary to law.
In his committal statement, Magistrate Alhaji Suliaman Koroma stated that, having gone through the entire evidence, it is quite clear that the accused had a case to be answer at the High Court.
The accused had been availing herself in court throughout the proceedings until the matter was committed to the High Court. The defense counsel, Sydney Campbell, applied for bail on behalf of his client, which was granted.
The accused is arraigned before the court on four counts charges of offences of conspiracy to commit arson, wounding, murder, conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm, which are all contrary to the laws of Sierra Leone.
The police charge sheet indicates that Aminata Bawoh, on the 1st March 2019 at Quarry Hastings in the Freetown Judicial District, in the Western Area of the Republic of Sierra Leone, conspired together with unknown persons to commit arson.
The indictment furthered that the accused, on the 1st March 2019 at the same place and address, conspired together with unknown persons to murder Sallamatu Jalloh and Fatima Turay, and also wounded Fatima Jalloh. The accused is still on bail.
