East End Lions Football Club Pitch at Trade Centre is making significant strides in converting the existing field into an artificial turf pitch to improve playing conditions.
The field, owned by the Government Technical Institute and located at Kissy Dock Yard, has been leased to the club. This development will allow the East End Lions to host their home matches at the venue. Construction is progressing steadily, with the aim of creating a high-quality playing surface. The entire project is being financed by the club itself.
It can be recalled that Chairman Amb. Anthony Navo Jr., last year, announced the arrival of a container filled with the required modern equipment and Contractors to build a state-of-the-art Football Pitch at the Trade Centre in the east end of Freetown.
Work began in February 2024 and is approaching its one-year mark. Fans and supporters are eagerly awaiting the completion of the stadium, looking forward to watching the team’s training sessions and matches at their new home ground.
He said the initiative marks a significant milestone for the Club, signaling the dawn of a new era, while emphasizing the Club’s commitment to progress as materials and contractors have been mobilized for the construction of a cutting-edge pitch at the Trade Centre.
Chairman Navo Jr. said: “It’s a new era for East End Lions F.C as promise delivered! As premised 2 years ago, I am excited that the shipment/container has arrived in Sierra Leone with the required equipment and contractors to build a state-of-the-art pitch at the Trade Centre.
“Today is the start of this journey and I am delighted to see to this project finally come to fruition – many thanks to everyone – elders, players, fans, executives.
