Le800M Bail Granted To Three Conspirators

Justice Simeon Allieu, during the Criminal Session yesterday, granted eight hundred million Leones bail each to Abu Sesay, Abass Kandeh and Musa Sesay.
They were arraigned before the court on three counts of conspiracy, larceny in a dwelling house and malicious damage, which are all contrary to the laws of Sierra Leone.
The indictment indicated that the accused, between 1st July and 30th August 2018 at Mogaba in Freetown, conspired with other persons unknown to commit a felony, to wit larceny.
The indictment continued that the accused, on the same day at the same place, stole from the house of the complainant, Elizabeth Square, iron rods, Milla water tanks, sands, stones and other items, all to the total of one billion, five hundred and forty-four thousand Leones, which are the properties of the complainant and also destroyed a zinc house belonging to the complainant.
After the charges were read to the accused, they pleaded not guilty of the offence.
The state prosecutor sought for a date since his witnesses were not present in court.
The defense counsel, J.M. Jengo, made an application for bail on behalf of all the accused and state prosecutor did not object to bail.
Justice Simeon Allieu granted each accused eight hundred million Leones bail and one surety in like sum and each surety should produce a valid national voter identification card and bail should be approved by the Master and Registrar of the High Court.

The matter comes up again on 3rd June, 2020 and will be assigned before a trial Judge as determined by the Chief Justice.
