Must read

The Inspector General of Police and the Leadership of the Sierra Leone Police have been squeezed by the Parliamentary subcommittee No 4 on the Recurrent and Development Budget Estimates for the financial year 2020 for failing to appropriately convince the committee on why they have recruited excess number of Police officers for 2019 from what was approved by Parliament and the Government in particular.
The Police leadership had faced the committee to justify budgetary allocations for 2019 and 2020.The Police had admitted that they have received allocations for 1st and 2nd quarters amounting to Le42,993,494,127,00 while allocations for 3rd quarter were pending.
The Police leadership had also told the lawmakers that they owed the rice supplier over twenty two billion and this explains why they have not been able to supply rice to its rank and file for over five months now.
They reported that they were able to generate revenue to the tune of over four billion Leones from an estimated projection of four billion, five hundred thousand Leones and owed the Guma Valley Water Company, the Freetown City Council and the Sierra Leone Water Company substantial amounts of funds as debts.
The organization recounted that the reduction in allocations to the entity for 2020 would strangulate their efforts at procuring public order equipment, supply of fuel for operations, procurement of rice and other assorted goods and services for 2020.
