Police Officer Testifies In Theft Matter

Detective Police Constable Foday Momoh Sesay attached to the Mountain Rural Division in Freetown has testified in the ongoing matter involving Mustapha Koroma, charged with housebreaking and larceny contrary to law.

Led in evidence by Inspector Amie Korio, prosecution witness (PW) 3, Foday Momoh Sesay, residing in Leicester Village, Freetown, and also attached to the Criminal Investigations Department of the Hill Top Police Station said he recognised the complainant Mohamed Sesay and could recall Thursday, July 7, 2022.

He continued that on that day, he was on duty at the aforesaid police station when a case of housebreaking and larceny was reported to the abovementioned unit, noting that the matter was assigned to him for investigation. He said he obtained statements from the complainant and his witnesses.

On the same day, he went on that he, the Scene of Crime Officer, whose name was not mentioned, and the complainant visited the crime scene at Banana Water in Freetown. The witness said upon their arrival, the complainant identified the crime scene and he took photographs of the scene with his iTel mobile phone.

When the photos were about to be tendered, PW3 informed the bench that his phone was not charged.

It was against this backdrop that the prosecutor, Inspector Amie Korio, sought for an adjournment, assuring the court that she would make the photos available to the court against the next adjourned date, application which was granted.

The accused was denied bail and remanded at the Male Correctional Centre on Pademba Road in Freetown. Meanwhile, the matter was adjourned to September 20, 2022 for further hearing.
