Judgment is expected today, Tuesday, 14th April, 2026 in the ongoing matter between the State and Yeabu Zainab Sheriff before Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah of Court No. 1 in Freetown.

The court fixed the date following the submission of final written addresses by both the prosecution and the defence on Friday, April 10th, 2026 in line with the Magistrate’s earlier directive.

The defendant is standing trial on two counts, including incitement contrary to law and using threatening language contrary to Section 30(1) of the Public Order Act 1965.

According to the particulars of offence, Zainab Sheriff, on Saturday, January 31st, 2026 at the Brima Attouga Mini Stadium in Freetown, within the Freetown Judicial District, allegedly made statements deemed to be inciting violence, including encouraging the killing of individuals accused of rigging elections.

On the second count, the prosecution alleges that the defendant used threatening and inflammatory language during the same event.

During proceedings, Defence Counsel made a no-case submission, arguing that the prosecution had not established sufficient evidence to warrant a response. The State Prosecutor, however, filed a reply opposing the application.

With both sides having closed their cases and filed final addresses, the matter now awaits judgment which is due today.
