Two Docked For Robbery With Aggravation

Dauda Sesay and Ibrahim Musa Sesay are standing trial at the Ross Road Magistrate Court No.1, which is presided over by Magistrate Alhaji Suliaman Koroma, for the offences of conspiracy to commit a felony, robbery with aggravation, receiving stolen goods, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and other related offences, which are all contrary to law.
Prosecutor witness, Dauda Kuyateh, who is also one of the victims, told the court that he recognized the accused and recalled 18th July 2019. According to him, he was on his bedroom sleeping, at around 2am -3am. He said the mosquito net, which was hanging on top of his bed, fell down on him. He said, as a result, he woke up and saw the two accused in his room.
The witness furthered that both accused threatened to kill him if he shouted, and according to him, they tied his arms behind him with a binding wire and carted away his mobile phone and Ipad.
The witness told the court that after the accused had left his room, he attempted to untie himself and succeeded in doing so. He noted that he immediately rushed into the bedroom of the complainant, Mariama Kuyateh, who was also tied with a binding wire together with her daughter, Jamilatu Kuyateh. “I untied both of them,’ he told the court.
The witness added that he came outside and discovered that the accused entered into the compound through the fence and that they used the main gate to take their exit. The witness disclosed that, after the departure of the accused, a police patrol team arrived at the scene at Haja Isatu Drive in Grafton, where they took the complainant to Grafton Police Station.
The witness further testified that himself and his sister, Jamilatu Kuyateh, were called upon at the Grafton Police Station and issued with police medical request forms for treatment at the Rokupa Government Hospital, Wellington in Freetown.
The witness rounded up his testimony, noting that they returned the endorsed medical papers to the station and made statements.
The accused are arraigned before the court on several counts charges of conspiracy to commit a felony, robbery with aggravation, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, receiving stolen goods, and other related offences, which are all contrary to law.
The police charge sheet indicates that Dauda Sesay and Ibrahim Musa Sesay, on the 18th July 2019, at Haja Isatu Drive, Grafton outside Freetown, in the Freetown Judicial District in the Western Area of the Republic of Sierra Leone, conspired together with unknown persons to commit a felony, to wit robbery with aggravation.
Court details state that both accused, on the 18th July, at the same place and address, conspired together with other unknown persons to rob the complainant, Mariama Kuyateh, one Ipad, iron rods, valued at four million, five hundred thousand leones (Le 4,500,000), one gray and red back pad, which is valued at four hundred and fifty thousand Leones (Le 450,000), one C- mobile phone, valued at nine hundred thousand Leones (Le900,000), two HP computers, valued at nine million, five hundred thousand Leones (Le 9, 500,000) and other valuable properties, which total seventy three million, two hundred and seventy eight thousand Leones (Le73,278000).
The accused are on bail and the matter was adjourned to 13th May, 2020.
