Two Drivers Jailed Five Years Each for Cement Theft

Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah of the Pademba Road Magistrate Court No. 1 has sentenced 32-year old Hassan Kamara and 34-year old Daniel Karim Jalloh, were each sentenced to five years imprisonment after they had both pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy and larceny.

The accused were arraigned on two counts of conspiracy contrary to law and larceny, contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.

According to the particulars of offence, on diverse dates between 1st and 30th June, 2026 in Freetown, the two defendants conspired with persons unknown to commit a felony, namely larceny.

On the second count, the Prosecution alleged that Hassan Kamara, the first defendant, on the same dates and at the same location, stole 240 bags of cement, each valued at Le1,700, amounting to a total value of Le 408,000, the property of Hamid Hajj Farra.

When the charges were read and explained, both defendants pleaded guilty and appealed to the court for mercy.

In his sentencing, Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah convicted the two defendants on their own guilty pleas and sentenced each of them to five years’ imprisonment.
